This auction is for a 127 piece Henri Soufflot French silver flatware / dinner set with vermeil (gold overlay). The set consists of the following pieces:
    12 dinner knives approximately 10 1/8"
    12 dinner/soup spoons approximately 8 3/4"
    12 dinner forks approximately 8 5/8"
    12 luncheon knives approximately 8 1/2"

    12 luncheon forks approximately 7 3/8"
12 oyster cocktail forks approximately 6"
    12 teaspoons approximately 5 5/8"
    12 dessert spoons approximately 4 7/8"
    1 tongs approximately 6 1/4"
    1 dessert serving spoon approximately 9 1/4"
1 dessert serving spoon approximately 9"
    1 dessert cicle/slice approximately 10 1/4"
    1 salt spoon approximately 2 3/4"
    1 mustard ladle approximately 4 3/8"
    1 hor d'ouvre fork approximately 6 1/8"
    1 hor d'ouvre spoon approximately 6"
    1 hor d'ouvre knife approximately 6 3/4"
    1 hor d'ouvre spade approximately 6"
    1 sugar sifter spoon approximately 8 1/4"
    1 asparagus tongs approximately 9 3/8"
    1 soup ladle approximately 13 1/4"
    1 carving knife approximately 13"
1 carving fork w/ pull down stand approx. 11 3/8"
1 large salad serving fork approx. 10 1/2"
1 large salad serving spoon approx. 10 7/8"
    1 large serving fork approximately 10 3/4"
    1 large serving spoon approximately 10 7/8"
The vermeil is starting to show minimal ware on the dinner knife handles. There are some dark spots on the carving knife blade. The blades on all of the knives show some ware and look to be stainless steel but are in good condition and all knives are sharp. I don't think these are original blades but may have been replaced at some point.
The dessert spoons have a etch in the bowl but one has a lot of ware and most of the etch is gone. All of the dessert pieces have a etch with varying degree of ware to the etch. The scalloped berry serving spoon is made by Louis Coginet but all of the other pieces are Henri Soufflot.
1 luncheon fork has a dark spot on the edge of the outside tine. The smaller tongs looks to have some denting inward on the top edges on the closed end side. The remainder of the pieces look to be in good condition however, the set has been used and the pieces are not new shiny but has a shine.
The pieces are not monogrammed. I don't have a scale so I am not able to disclose the weight of the set. The makers mark on every piece but the scalloped dessert serving spoon is Henri Soufflot and mark was used between 1884 and 1910. The makers mark on the scalloped dessert serving spoon is Louis Coginet and was used between 1884 and 1893.
All of the pieces, including the knife handles, are marked with the Minerva 1 950/1000 with the exception of the oyster cocktail fork tines which are marked with Minerva 2 800/1000 but the handles are marked with the Minerva 1 950/1000.
I was able to verify all of the marks as I have a 60x magnifying glass.
The set also comes with the oak chest (2 pictures attached). The chest lid has split across the top and there is no key to lock the chest.
Finding sets with the matching serving pieces are harder to find on Ebay. Additionally, one of the benefits of having a gold overlay is the pieces don't require periodic polishing. I only used soap and water to clean up the pieces before I took pictures for this auction.
I purchased this set from an antique dealer in Amiens Fr. 10 years ago. It's a very beautiful set but I haven't ever used the set as I have a full set of Whiting Empire I use regularly. All of the described issues are how I purchased the set and I am selling in the same condition.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Also please know that this isn't my full time job so if you ask a question it may take me some time to respond. Thank you for looking at my auction.
