Description

This lovely silver-plated bronze chamberstick is marked, on both the base and the stem, with the "crowned C" mark, placed on bronze items in France during 1745-1749.
The pieces are cast and seamed. The two parts are numbered for keying together.
The so-called "CC Oval/Square" mark was applied by Christofle between 1862-1935.
What I assume is that this piece was much used in its lifetime, and sometime in the late 19th century or early 20th century, the Christofle mark was applied when the item was taken in for repairs and re-plating.
Both marks are under the silver.
Please let me know if you have additional questions!
Oh, the item measures: 5 1/4" (13.4 cm) tall, and the base is 4 3/4" (11.9 cm) diameter.
I hope you love this. I bought this hoping for a pair, but one has not turned up, and I found a pair in another pattern.
