    Description

Presented is a fine set of 8 French antique silver teaspoons or coffee spoons made by Philippe Berthier. Berthier was working in Paris around the 1840s and 1850s. The spoons are at least 150 years old The spoons have a beautiful combination of machine turnings and hand engravings on the front of the handles. The backs of the handles have an open cartouche that has never been monogrammed or engraved. The spoons are covered with a lovely gold wash.
The spoons are hallmarked on the bowls with the Minerva’s head mark for French 800 purity silver and a maker’s mark of PB for Philippe Berthier. They are also stamped on the tip of the handles with the boar’s head small article mark.
The condition is excellent. There are no dents, no splits, no monograms, no monogram removals, no breaks, and no repairs.
The spoons are 5 7/8 inches long.
