    Antique French Provincial Sterling Silver Wine Taster Cup Tastevin
    This antique French Provincial Wine Taster / Tastevin is made of sterling silver. The makers mark is worn and unfortunately could not locate maker.
    This Tastevin has a mushroom style handle. This item was made in 1800 to early 19th century. This lovely wine taster is
    approximately 3 1/8" in diameter, from end of handle to rim of taster is 4 3/8" across, with a depth of 7/8" deep. This sterling wine taster weighs approximately  67.4 grams.
    This item has been previously owned. This tastevin has surface scratches and light wear. Overall good used condition.

    They are rather rare for 2 good historical reasons
    1 at Louis XIV era silver was an expensive metal
    Louisthe XIV has been fighting against other countries all the time
    he ruined France, therefore he asked to French a patriotic gesture for saving the country "give me ur gold and silver" and French people did
    it is possible there is no punch
    At French revolution time most of sign of royalty has been removed, ROYAL punches too.
