Antique Silver French Hallmarked: Jewelry, Music Box, Cigar Box Mozart Theme

19th century presentation box silver over brass, I believe...hallmarked STe...castle with a flag...W...I believe that it is of french origin...measures 8 1/4" wide...1 3/8" high...4 3/4" deep...inside lined on sides and bottom in lemon wood, according to my jeweler...she said it was silver over brass...it is written: Mozart chez  Madame De Pompadour ...depicts Mozart playing a violin before eight others plus Madame De Pompadour...my jeweler friend said she is more inclined to believe that this was a dresser or jewelry or trinket box that may have also been used as a music box...have never seen another like it...please ask any questions well in advance...shows average wear as shown...weighs in at 2 1/4 pounds...good luck and please check out our other fine items from our home to yours.
