Masterpiece by Canaux, impossible to find, extremely rare piece in sterling silver. An exceptional piece from the point of view of its design. No monograms.
With circular pierced bowl, the stem and handle have ribbons, foliage and flower decoration, the pierced spatula is adorned with a cherub.
Pieces with figurative handles are unusual. This taste for fantasy is typical of many of the pieces produced by the Maison Canaux at the end of the century. Certainly one of the most exceptional work of French silversmith of 19th century. Both design and quality of workmanship are uncommon and its manufacture would have necessitated many more hours work than usual.
