CHRISTOFLE Side Pour Coffee or Chocolate Pot ULAN 15 Military Silverplate

Description

We are pleased to offer a handsome silverplated side pour coffee or chocolate pot from Christofle
.  It has a heavy ebonized wooden handle and an attached lid.  We believe it to have been made for the 15th Chasseur Battalion (Ulan 15th), part of the 1st Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, 3rd Corp of the Army of the Rhine under Napolean III, 1870 - 1871.  It appears to be silverplated over brass and is a fabulous piece of military history.
Condition:
Overall good - there is some plate wear, dings and minor dents typical of holloware used by the military or hotel/restaurant ware. The handle displays a missing piece and significant ding and wear.  Please see photos and feel free to ask any questions.  It has been hand polished so there will be no surprises.
Size:
9 1/4" tall to top of finial; 3 1/2" diameter at the top widening to 4 3/4" at the base; handle extends 7 1/8" from the body of the pot.
