Description
I purchased this lovely spoon in Paris 15 years ago. The dealer I purchased it from has a boutique on the rue St.-Honoré, not far from the Palais Royal. The spoon is in good overall condition. The filets are crisp, and if there were armorials, there is no trace of them now, nor of a clumsy attempt at removal. The bowl is in good shape, though it is worn to one side, at the tip. You can tell in the photo.
The marks a crisp. These are provincial marks, and I have not been able to identify them. Maybe marks for Angers? I am guessing the spoon dates from the 1770s to the mid 1780s.
I once wanted to assemble a set of French silver coffee spoons, but other things happened in life, and now I don't want to collect in this area any longer.
I hope you will love this spoon.
