Description
Presented is a fantastic quality French silver fish slice or server. This piece was made by Emile Puiforcat, and dates to the mid 1900s or later. The fish slice is made from French first standard silver, which has a purity of 950. It is worth noting that this is a higher standard than sterling silver, which is 925 purity. The server is done in a pattern that emulates early 1600s pieces. The handle of the server is beautifully hand chased with floral designs and knotwork, against a textured background, on both the front and the back. The back of the blade of the server has a distinctive rat tail. This is a fabulous piece in an eye-catching and attractive pattern, and would make an excellent addition to any home's silver collection. This piece is in great overall condition. The details of the pattern are quite crisp. There are no splits, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals and no repairs.
The server is hallmarked with the maker's mark for Emile Puiforcat as well as the French first standard Minerva hallmark for 950 purity silver.
The server is about 10 inches long.
This piece weighs 129.8 grams or 4.6 regular ounces.
